Gold-Filled Jewellery InFO and CARE GUIDE

Gold-filled jewellery is made by permanently binding a layer of 14k solid gold to a base metal core through heat and pressure.

Our 14k gold-filled hoops are sourced from the USA where federal regulation stipulates the metal must have a layer of gold that is at least 5% of the item's total weight.

The solid gold layer becomes the tarnish-resistant surface that comes in contact with your skin, making it ideal for people who are sensitive to nickel or other base metals.

Gold-filled jewellery can be worn throughout the day, including in the shower.

With simple maintenance, gold-filled jewellery can last a very long time.

HOW TO CARE FOR GOLD-FILLED JEWELLERY

The sure way to keep jewellery looking pristine is to keep it locked away, but we don't want you to do that!

Express your style to the fullest by keeping these simple tips in mind:

Avoid wearing in the pool or gym:

Gold-filled holds up fine in showers, but avoid chlorinated environments such as pools and spas.

Planning to sweat buckets? Good idea to remove them before going to the gym too.

Clean Gently:

Maintain your pieces by wiping them periodically with a soft cloth or mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly.

For a deeper clean, a special polishing pad can be used to gently buff your jewellery to bring back its shine.

Store Properly: Keep in a dry place, preferably in a soft pouch or jewellery box, to prevent scratches.

Care for Earring Charms:

Our earring charms are handmade with handpainted sections. Do not swim, shower or go to bed with your charms on.

Some designs can be delicate. Please avoid dropping them.

Store away in its soft pouch or bag to prevent scratches.

Do not expose your charms to lotions, perfumes, dust and direct sunlight.

Q & A

Our gold-filled jewellery is sourced from manufacturers in the USA.

Customers with a nickel allergy or sensitive skin will be pleased to know that gold-filled does not contain nickel and therefore will not irritate your skin.

With gold-filled jewellery, your skin comes in contact with only real gold, which is hypoallergenic.

Gold-filled contains at least 5% of 14k gold.

In comparison, a light layer of gold - around 0.05% actual gold - is electroplated on to a base metal to create gold-plated jewellery.

The manufacturing process for gold-filled metal is also more complex, resulting in jewellery that feels, wears and looks like gold, without the cost of solid gold.

For our customers who prefer silver, we offer a 18mm Sterling Silver round hoop option as a base for your earring charms.

Unfortunately, the holes on the tops of existing earring pieces are smaller and will not slide onto ARTMUSE hoops.

ARTMUSE is a new concept that we hope to expand further so look out for more new design drops this year!
